SELECTION RESPONSES FOR AUGMENTING EARLY GROWTH RATE IN JAPANESE QUAIL

نویسندگان

چکیده

Throughout a selection experiment, which extended over five generations: the base and four generations of for augmenting early growth rate (GR) during period from hatch to 21 days age in Japanese quail, total number 8724 birds were used: 1726 population, 5176 selected line (HGR1-21) 1822 control line. The most important results obtained as follows: Genetically, heritability (h2) all body weights (BW) showed moderate h2 ranged 0.19 0.29. GR1-21 positively correlated with weekly measured except BW at (BW1) genetic correlations (rg) 0.06 0.47, wide range phenotypic correlation (rp ) 0.18 0.52. The  GR during  different periods had medium  0.17 0.28 high rg criterion (0.15 0.70) broader rp 0.03 0.67. The HGR1-21 4th generation best performance each BW7, BW21, BW28, 1-7, 1-14, 1-28 1-35 significant differences. realized cumulative  response after was 0.063 (6.30%) GR1-21, cumulative responses s 1.19,g 23.94,g 3.10% 17.00%, respectively. So, current study aimed evaluate effectiveness program through estimation direct fast determination between either ages or GRs quail.

Comparision of Direct and Indirect Response to Selection for Breast Weight in Japanese Quail

This study was carried out to investigate the direct and indirect responses to selection for four-week body weight (4 week body (wk BW)) and four-week breast weight (4 week breast weight (wk BRW)) and to determine the genetic contribution of reminder founders to the last generation. A total number of 351 birds were equally allocated to three lines, including two selected lines (S1 and S2 for BW...

Response to Selection for Body Weight in Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica)

The present studyinvestigated the impact of selection for body weight (BW) on productive performance, predicted BW and genetic improvement of related traits in Japanese quail. Base population, selected parent and F1 progeny were tested. Pens and cages were used for rearing and breeding. A total of 240 birds in two successive generations, 27 sires and 54 dams (as selected parents) were used. Bod...

Divergent selection for four-week body weight in Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica): response to selection and realized heritability

The Japanese quail has been utilized as a research species in establishing the genetic relationships that may also be present in other species. Divergent phenotypic selection for 4-wk BW was conducted for three generations in high (HW) and low (LW) lines. Within each line, 50 females and 25 males were selected among 600 birds, based on 4-wk BW. Mean BW at 4 wk of age in the base generation was ...

Physiological, Biochemical and Metabolic Responses of Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) as Affected by Early Heat Stress and Dietary Treatment

The main objective of this study was to elucidate the effect of short- term exposure of Japanese quail eggs to acute high incubation temperature on embryonic development and on the ability of post- hatched chicks to cope with subsequent heat stress conditions during the growing period. A total of 998 Japanese quail eggs were divided into two groups, the first group (470 eggs) was maintained at ...

Response to selection for feed conversion ratio in Japanese quail.

We investigated the effect of selection for 4-wk feed conversion ratio (FCR) on genetic improvement of FCR, BW, weight gain (WG), feed intake (FI), and residual FI (RFI) in Japanese quail. The F line was selected for reduced FCR and the C line was maintained as a randombred control. In each generation, 35 sires and 70 dams were used as parents for the next generation. Three generations of selec...
